It's my understanding that spirits/guides from the other side might call upon you or another medium to get information and help someone cross over, but wouldn't you have to go to them, rather than they just showing up in your home? I recently met someone who is all about Creator, spirits, guides, etc. (she has a good deal of Cherokee blood in her) who made such a claim (among others), and frankly, I'm skeptical. There's mentall illness in her family (two of her children), and I'm more inclined to believe she's schizophrenic based on some of what she shared, but I don't want to dismiss her beliefs and spirituality if there might be truth to what she said. I have worked with two TV shows and even shot the pilots. TV people are not interested in whats real, they are interested in what seels and they can promote which is a good scary ghost story. Stop believing what you see on TV. It is often scripted by screenwritiers who have no real knowledge of the paranormal, even reality tv is scripted...not real. TV is drama and theatrics. I heard it numerous times on serveral paranormal shows. If they have a choice to crossover to the light, why do they want help. I get frustrated when some inexperienced investagators say they are there to help but do nothing to help the souls asking for help. I believe that when asked to help it is the obligation of the investgator to call in all spirit guides and helpers on this side to lead the "lost soul" to the light. I have also seen diabolical, evil spirits pick up things to heavy for a person to pick up and throw objects at ignorant investigators who provoke this type of out rage. I do not in anyway have the knowledge or experience you have, I am only going by what I see and some Biblical scripture I have been taught. My main conceren is why are they pleading for help if they can cross over on their on. The answer you gave seems too simple compared to what I have seen and heard. Since I work with a lot of sudden and accidental death and suicide (you can read about my work on the Home page) I have experienced quite a few distraught and confused spirits still on the Earth plane, in other words they have not crossed over to the spirit side yet. I do not believe anyone is stuck or trapped here, if they are here it is by choice. I do believe that helpers will come to bring them home, but they may "choose" to stay however long they wish too. Keep in mind that 100 years in our time is nothing in the big picture. There is no time on the spirit side, so for a spirit to stay in an earthbound "Ghost" state for even hundreds of years is of no real consequence in the big picture. IF they are still here they have unifinished business with those left behind which is usally tied to issues of regret, remorse, guilt even anger or them trying to make some situation "right." I have also found that people who had severe mental illness in their life and even drug addiction may pass over in a state of confusion at first. Many people live their lives in complete misunderstanding of what life and the earth plane are all about. These people are often most easily manipulated and controlled by others who distort truth and control with fear and intimidation. Some times, when a spirit dies they may still gravitate towards, or be influenced by other spirits who are manipulators and controllers. They can be held captive, in a sense, by these spirits on the earth plane, but make no mistake, they are not really captive..they just believe they are. They are held captive here, or we may think that they are stuck here...but by they are actually held here by their own fear and misunderstanding. Voices you pick up on EVP or other visible "ghosts" are all still here, not crossed over to the spirit side yet. Once they cross they have understanding instead of misunderstanding and fear. To be "on the spirit side" is ONLY LOVE, there is no fear, hell, punishment or darkness. The darkness you tune in to with EVP equipment are those who are now out of body, in spirit form...but still HERE trying to exist in the physical world...that is hell and for them darkness. For them it is darkness, seperation from love, but it is not evil. They are existing in a place separated from LOVE, their source, God whatever you like to call it. They can go home anytime they choose. :) The only help they need is counsel to help them understand, let go of their fear and trust to go in to the light. No one is abandoned here and their are always those from the spirit side coming to check on them and see if they are ready to go home. Keep in mind, that there are also many different levels and "neighborhoods" on the spirit side just as their are here on Earth. GREAT question!! It seems to squash the theory that there are helpful "spirit guides" etc. to help with their transition. What do you make of this? In many stories, the humans involved felt their physical lives were threatened by the haunting spirit. In some cases, the ghost was actually able to inflict harm (scratches, knocking them across the room, choking them). In other stories, the spiritual entity initially appeared as a child, but as time progressed and its actions became more sinister the spirit's appearance changed to a devilish monster. Absolutely, every spirits purpose for choosing to stay is individual and I believe I say that in the article that some may choose to stay or cross over when ever they choose. However, I am specifically speaking of what people categorize as hauntings and spirits that are mistaken to be maleavolant. Incidentally even after a spirit crosses to the spirit side, they may still come back at any time to visit and watch over loved ones. They do not need to be here on the physical plane to watch over loved ones.
